Medicine Needs Black and Latino Physicians
Why medicine needs you!
¾ of physicians are white, while 3.3 percent are black, 5.3 percent are Hispanic, and 17.2 percent are Asian or other races.
12% of Americans are black and 13% Hispanic, meaning the number of doctors of color are greatly underrepresented!
We must start early to train our future black and brown doctors (that means you!)

Welcome to the SMP Med Blog!
We will use this blog throughout the summer to post additional information related to the material encountered during the day. To work on writing skills, we will also have you guys do about four blog posts of your own where you can reflect on any aspect of the program, or another interesting science/medicine related topic! After the 4-week session is over, we won’t leave you guys hanging! We will continue to post helpful information to help you guys through high school, and allow you guys to keep in touch through this page!
